||Wood Preservative Sales
The Evander plant processes and supplies both coal tar derived products and residual fuel oils.
Various coal-tar-derived raw materials from various coal gasifying, coking and char producing operations are processed into wood preservative creosotes and heating fuel that is used in a variety of specialised heating fuel applications where a high radiance flame is required (asphalt plants, billet furnaces, steel and glass smelting).
Raw material fuel oil feed stocks derived from crude oil are blended and purified in our Evander plant using specialised processing techniques developed by FFS. This technology removes contaminants such as Aluminium and Silica from the fuel, thus ensuring FFS supply customers with the highest quality fuel with a minimal abrasive particles.
The Evander plant produces Coal Tar Fuel (CTF) and creosote-type Wood Preservatives, and Fuel Oil 150 and similar heavy fuel oils.
Feedstock is derived from various coal gasifying, coking and char producing operations and from conventional refineries.
This plant operates a SANS ISO 14001-accredited environmental management system.
The Evander plant's laboratory performs standard tests including viscosity, flash and pour point, ash content, sulphur content, matter insoluble in toluene (MIT), moisture content and calorific value. The laboratory is able to simulate sedimentation rates in hot spin centrifuges developed by FFS for this purpose.
